Congratulations to our DEES November Superintendent Shout Out Samaj Brown!

Families and students at DEES had a fantastic time enjoying sweets, making ornaments, and sharing special moments with Santa. 🎅✨ A huge thank you to our amazing PTO volunteers for making it all possible! ❤️

The holiday concert for K-3rd grade students will be this Thursday, Dec. 12th, at 6 PM, at DEES.

Stay warm this weekend!

From our school family to yours!

Our 2nd graders have truly impressed us! They worked hard researching animals, crafting detailed informative essays, and creating vibrant dioramas to showcase their learning. They shared their amazing work with students, staff, and their parents or guardians all in one day. Fantastic job, 2nd grade! 🐾📚🌿✨

At Dawn Elser Elementary, our 1st graders had a wonderful time welcoming parents to school for a special project! In November, we focused on gratitude and explored what it means to be thankful. Together with their parents or guardians, students created "thankful plates," beautifully decorated to show what they're most grateful for. ❤️

Today is National Substitute Teacher Appreciation Day! We are so grateful for the subs who save our days by filling a teachers absence! If you are interested in being a sub for our district, please contact Clare at district office 618-632-6336!

This Thanksgiving we give thanks with a grateful heart for every one of our families. We have only 2 days next week before much needed time with families!

Dr. Jesse Jackson III visits 6th and 8th grade today expressing it pays to get A's!

🏃♀️💪 A big shoutout to our 3rd grade Girls on the Run team as they prepare for tomorrow’s big race! 🎉 Each girl received her post-run treat bag today—just a little something to celebrate all your hard work. Good luck tomorrow, and most importantly, enjoy the run! 👏💖

We’ve been practicing using our five senses to explore the world around us, and the students were thrilled to put their skills into action. They discovered leaves, sticks, pinecones, and even spiky gumballs. Along the way, we spotted street signs, birds, a squirrel, and lots of vehicles.
Back in class, they used their senses (except taste!) to investigate the treasures they collected. The highlight of the day? A tiny surprise visitor crawled out of a pinecone—a little bug! 🐞
Check out these moments from our nature walk adventure! 📸🍂

This Thursday, our Pre-K class had a special treat! Mr. Kurt Carpenter joined us to read Turkey Trouble. The students were completely engaged and loved every moment of the story. Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious cupcake together with our wonderful guest reader. 🍁📚🧁 Thank you, Mr. Carpenter, for making storytime so memorable!

Our second graders had an exciting visit from Tye-Dyed Iguana! The live animal presentation brought their science and reading lessons to life as they explored how animals survive, their habitats, and their unique needs.
🎨🐢 The students are now inspired and can't wait to create their own animal habitat dioramas later this month. Learning is truly an adventure at Dawn Elser Elementary! 📚✨

Have a wonderful weekend!
