A huge thank you to the O'Fallon Fire Department! Our Pre-K students had an awesome time at the fire safety assembly. They learned important fire safety tips, heard a real smoke detector, and even got to explore a fire truck and take pictures with a firefighter! What a fun and educational experience!
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, students at Dawn Elser Elementary have been participating in a variety of activities to honor Hispanic culture and history. Recently, Mrs. Icenogle's class learned about the incredible Frida Kahlo and created beautiful self-portraits inspired by her unique style. Great job, everyone!
After writing this week's report, more articles were posted in the Chicago Tribune, FOX, NBC, and CBS regarding this topic of threats and referencing "school shootings" through the influence of social media. Please take a moment to read and discuss this with your child, regardless their age, so we can continue to keep our schools a safe place to learn without distraction. Your partnership is so greatly appreciated and valued.
Our custodians are the greatest! Thank them if you see them today!

DEES students had a blast learning fire safety tips on Tuesday with a visit from the O'Fallon Fire Department! 🚒🔥 They also loved cheering on Mr. Thake as he raced a firefighter to see who could put on a fire suit the fastest. So much fun while learning to stay safe!

Reminder to ONLY use the emergency exit by district office for EMERGENCY purposes.
We want to wish our Technology Director Jessica Daniels a happy day!
With another recent school shooting, we feel it imperative to send out a reminder on the dangers of students making threats or playing games associated with "shooting" at school. We take words extremely seriously and will investigate in coordination with the O'Fallon Police Department; conduct a mental health evaluation; and search to ensure there is no threat to student safety. Whether found credible or not, a consequence will be issued by means of either suspension or alternate placement at Safe School. You may notice police presence in our schools. This is intentional to form positive relationships and respect for law enforcement.
Dr. Gabrielle Rodriguez, Superintendent
The emergency exit by district office at DEES has been reopened for EMERGENCY and administrative use only. Please help us adhere to this so they do not close it again.
September is Suicide Awareness Month. Please check out this report to see how we are bringing awareness to resources to provide help.
🎉 Congratulations to Mrs. B's class for being the first to earn the Attendance Award! 👏 They can earn a letter in the word ATTENDANCE when all students are present and on time. Once they spell the whole word, the class votes on a prize. Mrs. B's class chose a sweet treat for their first reward, and they are already working on spelling ATTENDANCE again! Keep up the great work! 🏆🍬
Please take a look if you have or will have an early childhood student.
Congratulations to our August Superintendent Shout Outs Dillon Clark and Benjamin Aubuchon!
We need subs! For every position, every day! Here are the requirements needed. If you or someone you know can help us, please do!
