Calling all Birth to age 5 Parent(s)/Guardian(s)!

DEES students in Mrs. Holtzman's class explored clay hand-building techniques while creating their very own winter coil trees! 🌲✨ After shaping their trees, the students glazed them with bright, festive colors to bring their masterpieces to life. Great job, awesome artists! 🎨👏

DEES students in Mrs. Holtzman's art class had a blast creating fluffy snowman paintings today! ❄️🎨 Using a fun 5-step process, they brought their creative visions to life while enjoying a sensory-rich experience. The results are nothing short of amazing! Proud of their hard work and creativity. 🖌️

Today, Dr. Jesse Jackson visited Ms. Gramms' class and shared an inspiring message about the importance of working hard in school. He encouraged the students to always give their best effort and never stop striving for greatness. A big thank you to Dr. Jackson for his time and wisdom!

🎉 Congrats to Mrs. Copeland's class for earning the Attendance Award for the second time! 🌟 Each day, when all students are present, the class earns a letter from the word "Attendance." Once they spell out the whole word, they vote on a prize – and this time, they voted for extra recess! Great job, everyone!
Remember, getting to school on time every day is a key to success. Let's keep up the hard work and make every day count by showing up and being ready to learn! 📚👏 #AttendanceMatters

I hope this email finds you warm and well. Our priority is always to have students in school as planned, whenever possible. Even with the cold temperatures, our transportation partners, Illinois Central Bus Company, are confident their pre-start-up plan will allow them to successfully run buses in the morning so school can continue in person as scheduled. Our building temperatures have also been checked by our Building and Grounds Department to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
Barring any unforeseen emergencies, we plan to be in session tomorrow, Tuesday, 1/21/25.
Please be sure to dress warmly and stay safe. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing students and staff tomorrow!

Have a great 3 day weekend!

Engineering Day opportunity for middle school girls!

We had a good day of e-learning Friday with 82.2% overall attendance at DEES and 86.5% at JAMS! Great job to all!

Due to incoming predicted inclement weather, we will lean on the safe side for our families and hold an e-learning day tomorrow, January 10. This was a tough call, but the timing of the bad weather is too risky for our families and staff. Please stay safe and warm!

I am sending the report a day early. You will hear from me tonight if we need to go remote learning tomorrow! Snow is expected tonight starting at 10 pm and is already in Joplin.
Stay safe and warm!

We will be in session tomorrow, Thursday, January 9, pending any unexpected emergency, thanks to our custodial staff and the city for working diligently to create safe conditions for us to go. I do want to prepare everyone for the possibility of an e-learning day on Friday if we get the additional snow expected. We will be deploying devices tomorrow in order to be fully prepared. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing everyone back tomorrow!
